Dave,
My everyday watch has a face very close to the one you are looking at. The Seiko 5 Flieger with a black face is easy on the eye and can be seen in low light conditions. Excellent quick analog reading seconds first then minutes. The down side to the Seiko model is that it is non hacking. Got mine for $60 on amazon and it can be adjusted to a +/- 5 seconds per day rate on a 7s26 basic self winding movement that has 21 jewels. It is light weight, comfortable and sets on the wrist well. This style of watch can be found in quartz if desired.
I am very happy with mine. See image.
