I would suggest to our British friends that the log books of the Royal Navy prior to the days of steam should be digitized, and likewise those of the U.S. Navy, and others. But the British ones would be the major treasure trove, in my opinion, due to their sheer volume. I put the cutoff date at steam to avoid revealing any classified information, but one probably could advance the cutoff date to the advent of nuclear fuel without revealing any critical information! One other suggestion would be to convert the images to text if possible, that they might be searchable.
