"One trend I've noticed here is newcomers, fairly quickly after understanding the process, setting up their own spreadsheets to handle sight reduction. While its reinventing the wheel, I'm sure it leads to a very good understanding of the process."

A couple quotes:
"One trend I've noticed here is newcomers, fairly quickly after understanding the process, setting up their own spreadsheets to handle sight reduction. While its reinventing the wheel, I'm sure it leads to a very good understanding of the process."
and
"...derive azimuth at least as simply and easily as some creative person has done with the sin formula."
The first is certainly true in my case. I now have spread sheets for a great many tabluar methods. I find it a great way to learn and understand both how the tables are created and how they are used.
An example attached is an excel sheet to reproduce the Bennett tables results and use the tables to calculate azimuth.
