Hello In my opinion the best hand held calculator for celestial /terrestrial work is the hP 41 C or 41 CX with the navigational pack. These calc. are no longer made but are generally available on eBay etc. (Oddly enough the nav pack has a flaw...calc. GC dist/course say every 10* long. between eastern and western hemisphere...). There are other and newer hand helds avail at higher prices. STARPILOT is in my opinion is a great program...but unless you have fantastic vision you will need a magnifying glass to see the data on the screen of the TEXAS INST. TI-89 Titanium.. (I bought the pgr for use with a laptop...after buying the TI 89) Regards Irv -----Original Message----- From: NavList@fer3.com [mailto:NavList@fer3.com] On Behalf Of gcurte Sent: January 27, 2008 10:07 AM To: NavList Subject: [NavList 4464] sight reduction calculator hello every one, i 'm trying to get a hendheld calculator to expedite my sight reduction work. if i use a regular sciencefic calculator it take me like 10 minutes per sight. some time i want to trevel light so a calculator will be a good help. i can see on internet are a lot of programs ,softwhere and many others. the problem with the little palms or pocket pc they depend on recargebile battery, that mean if you are somere isoleted you ca not use it for long time. i see the starpilot as a good alternative for a long period of time but reading the instruction on internet i see for sun is upper limb or lower limb, i do use a bubble sextant so i do not see that option. any advice will be more than wellcome thank you --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ To post to this group, send email to NavList@fer3.com To , send email to NavList-@fer3.com -~----------~----~----~----~------~----~------~--~---
