My main point was that the NA arrives aboard ship by way of the regular
postal service and fleet post office, whether the ship is at sea or not.
When I went to sea we regularly received snail mail at sea. Not sure
whether your ship receives snail mail at sea in this century. My
estimation of the USNO NA publishing schedule was incorrect.

Jeremy, I was NOT just referring to the method of data transmission by
satellites and HF radio. My disinclination to discuss technical details
of email on the list stems from the fact that it doesn't have much to do
with the stated purpose of the list.

However, I'm now going to make an exception. Does your AOL 9.1 email
software have a "reply to" button/function? More importantly, do you
use it or do you compose new email and copy/paste/edit when replying to
    the list?
