Kermit:
The only airplane I ever flew was a Cessna 170 I think it was, single engine tail dragger as memory serves. I "flew" it for about 2 minutes, seemed like that many hours, though it was an interesting experience.
Additionally, my navigational experience is unfortunately limited to standing on the beach, observing such bodies, celestial or otherwise as might pass in view. Otherwise, having worked in engineering design and construction for many years, I'm certain that Bill was entirely correct re his reference to "aome things having been designed by a large committee of people with three thumbs", though "all thumbs" might be closer to the mark in some cases.
Of course, back when I was designing piping systems for oil refineries and chemical process plants, I often wore out the erasing end of my pencil before wearing out the writing end. Of course, at that point some clever fellow produced the electric eraser, which was eventually followed by CAD or Auto CAD, ruining things in the process.
