Re: recommendation for slide rule ?

"The Hunt for the Red October" is one of my favorite movies.  At one point in the Laurentian Abyssal Capt. Ramius (Sean Connery) orders a change in speed of his submarine and tells one of his men to recalculate the time to turn.  I seem to recall that the officer used something like a circular slide rule for that... This sounds like an excellent excuse to put that movie on our Netflix queue - again... just to make sure I remember this detail correctly, of course. :-)

Perhaps this might start exciting new discussion threads on dead reckoning and submarine navigation. (?)

    Hewitt,

Thanks for the heads up on SLIDE RULE FOR THE MARINER. I just
ordered a used copy. There are more available if anyone else is
    interested.
