The biggest slide rule was home made by Greg Maggs, the son of one of my
professors at the University of Illinois College of Law. I saw a picture
of it laid out on the floor of the corridor at the school, stretching
the length of the corridor, in the Guinness Book of Records. It was more
than 300 feet long! I ran into Greg in the Army in 1990 and reminded him
of his record, he just rolled his eyes. Greg is a sharp guy, he clerked
for two Supreme Court justices and is a Dean at the George Washington
