Can someone please tell me where this term
"Firefly" came from, when referring to the old Plath bubble attachment with the
adjustable bubble? I have never before seen this in any literature or
manuals. I first heard it several months ago from a friend who was looking for
one.

For anyone desperate for a bubble horizon, there is a pristine-looking Plath Firefly bubble horizon on eBay. Billed as "never used," it comes with a nice but unremarkable Plath sextant. I shudder to think what it will go for, but will enjoy watching the bidding from the sidelines.
