    Correct Peter. No need to clutter up a chart with CN plots. Even on a full size plotting sheet the navigator may choose to plot a round of stars off set by a degree of latitude and then transfer the position over to the course track.

    I like it!

    I'd guess that in practice a fix obtained from such a side plot on a separate plotting sheet would be then transferred onto a chart - rather than doing all the LOPs on the chart itself - is that correct?
