I initially watched the eclipse through my sextant shades but my kids had trouble finding the sun disc. Later I removed the 3 X scope and used it to focus (project) an image on paper or a white wall. It worked well and is easily aimed being hand-held. The light was indeed strange and hard to describe and the air felt noticably cooler as the eclipse darkened. I first saw the moon disc appear against the sun here at 5-24-45, Hs sun was 29*09.9 with zn 275.1.
