My neighbor noticed that her shadow had an unusual edge to it so I explained that that was due to the crescent shape of the sun. I also demonstrated for her that by making a small hole using my thumb and forefinger that I could project the crescent image onto the sidewalk.

I noticed eclipse shadow photos being posted on the internet. It would be interesting to see a photo of a sundial shadow during the eclipse.
