Vic, Been there, done that... but the guy at: http://www.tecepe.com.br/scripts/AlmanacPagesISAPI.isa has done such a wonderful job, and since he makes his registered Visual Basic version available for only $20, I threw my home-made one away and now have his loaded on my laptop. It has every feature I could ever want. Write your own if you are looking for a challenge (I must confess I enjoyed the programming challenge myself), but if you just want to produce the same output on your computer, pay the $20. You won't be disappointed. If you're into Celestial Nav. and have a computer, his program is great fun. It's wonderfully layed out. Beside the almanac features, it does sight reduction (even doing it backwards yielding an expected instrument reading which is great when you are just doing some instrument testing) and plotting on charts you can add (or even make with his chart maker program that comes with it), a sky chart you can animate (backwards and forward) at any speed, plus a GPS interface that allows you to see your position (via a litle boat icon) realtime. -- Joe Shields (not associated with the tecepe programmer in any way, just a satisfied customer) -----Original Message----- From: Vic Fraenckel [mailto:vfraenc1@NYCAP.RR.COM] Sent: Friday, March 29, 2002 5:47 AM Subject: Re: online nautical almanac Peter, Thanks for the link. My real goal is to be able to produce the same output on my own computer. I am a fairly good programmer and would like to have an nautical almanac in my computer on my sailboat.
