    I agree (in part)

on eBay you can get an A-12 for about 50 dollars (plus postage which
is almost as much after the USPS has abandoned surface mail). Be
patient: I got one at this price after having seen a dozen or so go by
at 100 dollars. Mine has an extra bubble chamber and two spare light
bulbs so it seems a bit of a bargain.

I have also bought an A-10 and a Mk. IXA at similar prices.

All three work to some degree, but they need reconditioning, as would
most that you buy on eBay unless you are VERY lucky. Manuals for this
are also available at eBay so I know how to spend a number of my
    evenings the coming winter.....

Compare this with the 700 - 1100 euro (1000-1500 dollars) that
Navastro charges. Garcia Aviation seems cheap (never thought I would
    say that).

Please bear in mind that of the three, the A-12 is the least accurate
at 2' compared to 1' for the others. But then, it seems a lot easier
to operate and thus should reduce the user error, probably canceling
    out the lower accuracy.

Good luck whichever way you decide to go

    Ronald
