The face of the unit is never shown, just the green trace on the CRT. It looks like one of the APN-9 display diagrams in my book -- the one you use to make the initial coarse delay reading -- except that the 1000 usec and 5000 usec pips extend above and below the baseline instead of only above. The 1000 usec pips are dim and hard to see in the movie. In fact, on the first viewing I never noticed them, even when pausing the picture. On the companion disc is a feature on airline flying the 1950s. Some of the old pilots of that era are interviewed, and have a few remarks about the navigators they flew with: "The navigators seemed to be the ones who were best on algebra and were interested in astronomy and that sort of thing. Maybe they were a little smarter in some respects than the pilots." "They were considered the more educated and refined member of the crew." -- I block messages that contain attachments or HTML. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ Navigation List archive: www.fer3.com/arc To post, email NavList@fer3.com To , email NavList-@fer3.com -~----------~----~----~----~------~----~------~--~---
