Re: Is most probable position (MPP) a dangerous misnomer?

    David,

I think the word PROBABLE covers it.  If you look at your GPS you say my position IS here.   If you walk, fly, or sail and keep track of your movements you will say my position is probably here.

Most of us use the word to express some doubt. If you say you will probably be home in half an hour you are saying that the time is an estimate, not exact.  Most Probable Position says it is your best guess, but could be off by a bit.
