     This topic has been endlessly bounced around on several public
    newsgroups. One fellow proclaimed that we were being lied to by the media.
    To me it's just another case where "political" thinking is at odds with
    more precise scientific thinking.
    
    No doubt the same circumstances prevailed at the turn of the century in "1900".
    It is all kind of humorous and much easier "to give them what they want" :-)
