Apologies; I made a silly boob in my earlier message, which should have
    read-

Bill Noyce noted, Wandering a bit off topic:

    > I don't know what a F, a yard, a pound is? I know what a pint is because
    > I
    > like beer :-),

Careful ... around here, a pint is about 480 ml, but we don't usually
    serve beer in pints.
In the UK, where they do, a pint is about 600 ml, I believe.

(This is also relevant to a comparison of gas/petrol prices a while
ago, where George (?) mentioned a gallon as being almost 5 liters.
Here in the US it's just under 4 liters -- though our gas is still
    relatively inexpensive.)

    ==========================

Bill would be a bit disappointed by "short measure", then, on visiting a
British pub. An Imperial GALLON [I had written "Pint"!] is not 5 litres, but
4.546, though still quite a lot larger than a US gallon. An Imperial Pint is
one-eightth (how DO you spell that word?) of a gallon, or 568 ml. Draught
beer is now about the only stuff that's still sold in that way; everything
else having now gone metric, by law, but the beer drinkers have held their
ground so far. And mostly, it's still sold in glasses that hold a pint right
up to the brim, which is one reason why we prefer our beer to be flat rather
    than fizzy.

As Bill Noyce has mentioned fuel prices, Americans might like to know that
Diesel for my car now costs me the equivalent of just over $10 for a (US)
    gallon.

    George.
