    Hi Dave, Two comments...

I purchased starpilot by NavList's own Andrés Ruiz and have found it to be an excellent, no-nonsense navigation tool. My understanding is that it would have cost me much more to get the same product on another platform, so although the iphone (ipod) is not the best thing to have in wet environment, you do get a very good deal. My only wish would have be to have a lunar sight option where you also enter two altitudes (I believe the implemented version uses approximate position to iteratively clear the lunar distance).

The option you haven't listed is to get an excel emulator and write your own procedures. I use Sheet2 and find it works remarkably well. An example of what you can do is my little spreadsheet (little because it's formatted for the small screen) "Solar_Sight_Calculator" which can be found at https://public.me.com/gwbburg. In this I implemented the "old-time navigation" noontime sight and time sight formulae I learned at Frank's course.

    Cheers,
    George
