Re what you wrote, There is an obvious subtraction error,

    "367D 20.7M. Subtracting West Longitude of 77D 06.6M gives LHA aries of 290D 17.1M"

    should be 290° 14.1'.,

Looks like I blew it respecting what passes for my typing. Looking at my notes, as opposed to what I typed, my shooting longitude was 77D 03.6M, not 77D 06.6M, which gives LHA Aries of 290D 17.1M, I used 290D to set my star finder. Actually, since my Longitude was 77D 03.6M, adding 8 M from arc to time conversion would give me a Long. of 77D 11.3M, resulting in LHA Aries of 290D 09.1M, still 290D for star finder setting. This last didn't make any real difference here, but in some cases, it might. The devil is in the details.

Re the rest of it, the NA times are Standard Time. Since we were, still are on DST, I added 1 hour to the NA times for Civil and Nautical Twl, then added ZD of 4 hours to Civil Twl, getting 2248 hrs.

As to your later mention of my "doing it the hard way", that is extra steps, looks that way, however that is the way I "learned" to do it, and am fairly comfortable with the extra steps, though I will look at what you outlined, thanks for the thought.

Re your closing, Also, please do not call the position you determined an "estimated position," it is a "fix," an EP is something different with a lower level of confidence". Duly noted, in that a "fix" is the position established by the crossing of 2 or more lines of position. I'm not quite sure of why I called it an "estimated position", likely I misunderstood something previously read.

    Thanks again for your input.
