Murray, I had to do this with a Husun sextant. The pivot pin for the index arm should be a conical-shaped pin that fits into a conical bearing. On the Husun, it was drawn into place and held by a bolt. This was covered with the third leg of the sextant, which screwed off. I removed the leg, loosened the bolt, and put the end of a pencil in the leg. Then screwed on the leg, which pushed the pin out of the bearing by pressing on the bolt. Make sure you have rotated the index arm so it is off the arc. You will probably have to unscrew a stop so the arm can rotate off the arc. It's OK to remove the mirror from the housing, but try not to mess with the mirror housing itself. Hope this helps.
