Yes, that video is priceless. Many people really do become quite educated in their chosen specialty, let's say history, and yet come away knowing nothing at all about extremely basic science.
You do have to watch out for the student "con artists" of course. These are the ones who say things like "yeah, our previous teachers never told us anything about eclipses and phases of the moon so you're gonna have to make this much more basic... cuz we're just soooo ignorant." They're just trying to make the class easier. You may be able to employ peer pressure to some extent to control this sort of game. It's harder to look your fellow students in the eye and say you don't know what a lunar eclipse is. They'll laugh at you for it.
