I look at these tables as part of a convenient "lifeboat kit". I.e. what's
the minimal kit you'd need to do lifeboat navigation? They do require a lot
of steps but the tables are very compact. That's the trade off I guess.

The form I developed fits four calculations to a page. I think it needs a
little more in the way of directions to jog the navigator's memory. Consider
    this a beta version.

When the Nautical Almanac tables were new, (I think 1989 was the first year.) I put a form together that Cruising World published in their November 1990 issue.  The USPS later adopted a form, SR 89, for use with the Nautical Almanac Sight Reduction Tables.  I am surprised that the NAO has not included a suggested form with their tables either in the NA or in Bowditch.  I think it makes it much easier to use the tables.
