I have decided that there is nothing wrong with my computations and am satisfied that I can use the data from a program called pyephem to generate almanac data including the right ascension of fpAries. Thanks to all that mentioned stellarium which I have used in the past but didn't investigate it thoroughly. I have not tried the navigational stars addon as yet but hope to soon. As I omitted personal details earlier, my name is Patrick S. and I live in Oxnard, California. The nearest harbour is Channel Islands and I have a small open rowboat with sail rig for recreation. My interest in celestial navigation is mostly around almanac data and ways to generate details like right ascension, decl on my computer which is a unix based linux system. Currently I am using an addon to python called pyephem which seems to be quite good. I have used another program called xephem for awhile and it has a function something like stellarium as well as a table of almanac data. The unix community is really coming along. There is a fine chart viewer called opencpn and a weather forecasting program called zgrib. Patrick
