Excellent example of the use of time sights and logtrig tables for navigation prior to WW2.
Alastor was built for R H Penney & Son in 1875, and operated by them for 20 years from Shoreham, on the South coast of UK.
Shoreham claims to be the airfield with the longest continuous use as an international airport. Attached is a photo of me operating out of Shoreham, using only hand-starting and navigation techniques available prior to WW2, photo taken a few weeks ago. A day's work.
