"Disregarding advices from available sources, including working electronic equipment and workmates, is not good seamanship."
Magnus, that's an excellent summary. It will be interesting to see why and also HOW the captain of the Costa Concordia ignored the information available to him. There is a systems issue here: if an automated warning system is too annoying, issuing false alarms and such, there is always a way to turn it off or simply press the "mute" button. The computer should get in one last word: "The captain has pressed my mute button. Don't blame me!"
