Another reason as to why the line at Greenwich has moved is because
the UK is slowly following Ireland into the depths of the Atlantic
Ocean through the process of tectonic plate movement or continental
drift. Perhaps the Astronomer Royal should be required to mount the
line at Greenwich on a set of railway lines so that it could be moved
and made to agree with visitors GPS?

This simple solution might also be the answer to a previous thread on
this forum which discussed the slowing down of the earths rate of spin
and therefore the ever increasing difference between GMT and UTC or
    atomic time?
