In one of these Bermnuda from the mainland races that I had read about, I'm uncertain as to which one it was, there was a "new" class created, navigation without electronics, which I assume means no GPS, sextant shots only and the law of sines/cosines or whichever tables one wished to use. I expect that it would have been o.k. to use a calculator to do trig, multiplication and division with rather than using log tables, which would be tedious to a fault.
There was mention of this race in an issue of Ocean Navigator, the celestial navigation only boat came in first overall, as I recall.
