Paul H, in message 8752 on star-star distances, you wrote:
"Back in September 2000 I said this in another forum"
and you included a link to the peculiar archive at i-DEADLINK-com. So that
there is no misunderstanding for new members, this is NOT "another" forum.
You can read exactly the same message, with its tables PROPERLY formatted in
the main archive for NavList located here:
The "other" archive at i-DEADLINK-com was created by someone who never posted
and apparently never read more than a handful of messages (he did have an
email address which was a "member" since that's how his archive received its
messages). He used, and continues to use, his partial archive of the group's
messages as a means of selling a few books. Every message has an ad at the
top. I don't want to suggest that there's anything wrong with this, and it
fulfilled a useful purpose for a few years --only that it's not something you
need anymore, and if you want to see older messages properly formatted
(usually!), searchable, and in the same context as current messages, then
you'll find them at fer3.com/arc. There is also a partial archive maintained
as part of the hosting service at googlegroups.com, but it's a bit quirky and
we have no control over it, so I don't recommend it.
    Paul, you noted:
"My tables are slightly mis-formatted on the web page." [at i-DEADLINK-com]
Yes, they are. And one advantage of having an archive which I can edit is that
your message is properly formatted. Have a look (follow the fer3.com link
Finally, just to reiterate, go here
to read over a decade of archived messages, read the latest messages in
real-time, post new messages, reply to recent or archived messages, post
messages with attachments, and post messages with very large "linked" files
(equivalent to a file upload functionality). Also if you know someone who
wants to ask a question on NavList but doesn't want to be a member, send them
to this address. They can post as a non-member or post anonymously and decide
whether to join later (many of our newer members have taken this route). And
coming soon (sooner or later): formatted posts with proper equations, tables,
and more (while still maintaining plain text equivalents for those with
slower connections or other concerns about formatted messages).
