In addition to the points that Alex made, I can add another: the worm screw release clamp is constructed such that aluminium pivots on aluminium. This is bad news as with continued use, the aluminium tends to bind and thus requires the user to dismantle the whole thing, re-grease it and put it back together again. At least this was my unhappy experience with this particular model. I have never used an SNO-T but if it is in fact, just a Russian version of the Frieberger, then I have to respectfully disagree with the notion that it is the best sextant ever made. That honour, in my humble opinion, goes to C.Plath and Cassens and Plath. Another two bits' worth from the cheap seats.
