The original post had the coordinates as N 51 28.674' W 000 00.088'.
Frank has the coordinates for the same place from Google Earth as
lat/lon=51.477895,-0.001506.
Converting to sexigesimal makes the Google Earth coordinates:
N 51 28.6737' W 000 00.09036
So the differences between the Google Earth coordinates and the coordinates from the GPS being evaluated is zero in latitude (rounded to the same precision) and in longitude .002' (again rounded to the same precision) about 7 feet, or 2 meters, close enough for most practical navigation so don't throw that GPS away.
