tried the formula " sin A=(cos Lat sin LHA)/cos h " repeatedly, got wrong answers all 4 "problems" on each calculator, one borrowed Casio CFx9850G and one TI-82 Stats I bought Saturday.
To take one of the wrong answers.
when I plugged in
arcsin ((cos 64°41.4 sin 31°35')/cos 28°43.4')
got answer 14°47.5', correct answer was 216.2° according to USNO.
it seems impossible to get correct answer if I add or subtract 14°47.5' from any of the four cardinal points 90°, 180°, 270° or 360°.
If I remove Lat and replace with Dec I get 36°16.3' which if added to 180 gives 216°16.3' which is close enogh for my navigation.
