There seems to be a general acceptance that the light throughput for whole horizon mirrors is less than for split mirrors. I admit I am ignorant of whole horizon mirror sextants, but I would assume that this horizon mirror is coated for 50% reflectance (and transmission) so the light throughput should be just the same as a split mirror sextant. Shouldn't it? Geoffrey Kolbe
