    An interesting subject. Sometimes I think that I ujnderstand it; other times I do not!!!!

    The NZ Geodetic Datum 2000 is a fixed plate datum. The coordinates of  a locality are fixed. In contrast WGS84 is fixed to the earth and consquently  the coordinated of points in NZ are continuously changing.
