Speaking personally, I have some slight understanding of Celestial Navigation, at least the principles thereof. There are some aspects of it that I can run, others I can’t get through my thick head., Perhaps one of these days

In any event, the formulas and procedures are long established, and more important, they work, when utilized properly. So while the following might be an oversimplification, just use them properly, scientific calculators sure beat log tables, don't try taking them apart or put in other terms, don't seize defeat from the jaws of victory. Those of a more theoretical turn of mind might dig as they like, they might find a diamond or two, who knows.
