The following story appeared in ‘The Times Online’, which is rapidly becoming more ‘Redtop’ than ‘Broadsheet’, today. Leaving Shackleton’s Endurance on seabed will destroy it, claims explorer | News | The Times . I wasn’t sure when a sinking vessel changes gender from ‘She’ to ‘it’, and what about submarines? Presumably, if Endurance ever breaks the surface again like Father Neptune, she’ll be re-gendered to ‘She’ once more. To think that this is the newspaper that as a schoolboy I was advised by a recruiting officer to read if I wished to get on in the World and influence people. DaveP (V O’Freason)
