Re: What should I expect for a land based sight accuracy

Glad you found it useful - I first came across it when I switched from Windows to Ubuntu Linux on my laptop.
I then found out they made a app version for smart phones. I really don't like Windows; Win XP is tolerable,
and I run my legacy copy on the laptop in a dual boot configuration so when I boot up it asks if I want Linux
or XP. There is not much I need XP for; just a couple of really old windows applications and Netflix.
I like to take the laptop on the boat and use a program called 'opencpn' it is a chart plotter program that
uses NOAA BSB Charts straight from NOAA, it also interfaces with my autopilot, usb GPS, and has plug-ins for:
'World Magnetic Model Plotting' (draws variation lines on your chart at any interval you like) and celestial
navigation that draws the 'cocked-hat' on your chart. I also run some ham radio software under Linux too.
It looks like the weather may give me a break tomorrow (Sun,) and I may get to make some practice sights.

Wow! I use Dosbox for just this purpose on my pc, but I didn't even think to look for it in the Android/Google "Play" store. Tried it out and it works great. This is so cool!

    Thanks, Greg!

I use "Celestial" as well. Also a great app!
