No offense taken, Francis. The thing that I like about this list is that we're all trying to preserve the art and science of celestial navigation. And that sometimes means saying "hey, wait a minute, have you considered this?"

BTW, I also totally agree with Greg's figures. I think most of the responses to my posting about sight accuracy from an underway yacht were in agreement with my (much more limited) experience, 2~3 minutes.

Lu,
yes, you are probably right. Perhaps I was being a little too critical. It is not the same as drug research, you are quite right.
I still would like to see more "real world" series taken on a small boat in a seaway.
Greg's figures seem about right from my experience.
