    Re: What happened to the leap second?
    From: David C
    Date: 2016 Dec 31, 19:48 -0800

    Here is the text of an email I have sent to Radio NZ. (I am expecting a navlist member to point out that I have made a silly mistake with my insertion time................).

    I listened excitedly to the time pips on National Radio at 1300 on 1st
    Dec 2017. This is midnight UTC when a leap second was due to be
    inserted. According to the site

    https://www.msl.irl.cri.nz/services/time-and-frequency

    a seventh pip is inserted when there is a leap second.

    Imagine my disappointment when I heard (and recorded) only six pips!

    Did I confuse the insertion time or did Radio NZ/MSL  loose the pip?

    Thanks

    David

    PS If  RadioNZ lost the pip can you please broadcast it sometime (-;
