Forty years ago, when I first started in computer software, there was a very amusing story circulating (by paper, it was far before email, much less the web), wherein an aircraft company executive lectured an IBM executive using some of their excuses except substituting "airplane" for "computer," for example "the airplane made it 80% of the way before it crashed, why aren't you happy?" [as a computer geek, I'll point out that a well-designed computer program can be restarted and continue on its way after a crash much more easily than an airplane!]
Tried a number of Google searches, but can't find a copy.
