I'm pleased to note Jim Wilson's first posting, 5349, and to welcome him to our playpen. He may be too modest to tell us that he is the James N Wilson who authored the paper in Navigation in Spring 1985, ""Position from Observation of a Single Body". That is particularly relevant to the topic of longitude-around-noon, which has been given a further thrashing recently, and what he has to say could be of some interest. Several listmembers may have that paper to hand, as it's in the ION CD collection of papers on celestial nav.
