I knew Capt Weems. My family visited his house in Annapolis frequently in the 1960s. He was quite a character. He introduced himself to my father, Roger Easton, when he heard about my dad's work on Project Vanguard. My dad's work on Minitrack led to the Naval Space Surveillance System, then to Timation and GPS. I have a book on the subject which will be published soon by Potomac Books.
I have one quibble about the article. It implies that Weems and Lindbergh met after the flight to Paris. They first met in 1926.
