Yes, that's the same account I've seen elsewhere. The other thing that cinches it is that Weems wouldn't have had the bubble sextant and second-setting watch in '26. That bubble sextant existed then, but given that it was from a prototype lot of six, there wouldn't have been much of a reason for him to have it in San Diego in '26, unlike early '28 when he was advising the carrier squadrons, I know who wrote the other text, so it's easy enough to check - especially as he was very supportive in writing the article.
