What, exactly, are you trying to resolve with Worsley and chronometers? Your question previously was too broad. That engendered the broad responses you got.
Lars, Robin and I spent a tremendous amount of effort on the issue of Worsley, time, chronometers and longitude; as they are all intimately related. I am sure all three of us would be happy to answer your question, if we only could tell what it was!

The (a·x+b) nature of the problem is obvious to me, I was interested in logical loops that may occur when a navigator finds conflicting measurements - like Captain Worsley had with "two minutes are too much".
