    Hello David,  I'm afraid I can't say anything about Wantanbe extants except that from the pictures I find on the web, they appear to be yet one more of the generic, Japanses copies of 1930s Plaths.  The fact that the one you're looking at had been recertified at least once suggests that it was doing acceptible service on a merchant vessel.

    My own first sextant was a Heath Hezzanith 130M (three circle).  I still have mine, and love the lttle thing.  I assume that a 130M was what you had rather than the alloy MC1.  The 130Ms appear regularly on Ebay often for really reasonable prices.
