George Huxtable in his last message asks whether the term "whole circle" may be the result of an incorrect translation from German into English. The German word for "great circle", "Grosskreis", reads like a literal translation of its English equivalent. That makes it seem very unlikely that "whole circle" is an incorrect translation of the German term for "great circle" into English. Christian Scheele Cape Town
