    Hello Mark,

I would recommend that you post some photos. There are NavList members who would be happy to help you identify the instruments, out of curiosity if nothing else. As far as getting valuations on these instruments, that's tricky. The value on collectibles in a thin market like this varies greatly and in the end the "value" is the final price paid at auction on any given date. Luckily, for sextants, ebay continues to be a good place to sell them. With a large number of instruments to sell (you said "about 20"), I would suggest you sell one a week if you can wait that long. The key to getting the best price for a specialty item like this is a detailed, honest description of the condition and a variety of decent photos. Apart from that, it's what the market will bear. Feel free to let us know when you have auctions running. Announcing that items are available shouldn't bother too many members, but actively trying to sell them in messages here probably would.

PS: If you don't know how to post photos, you can send them separately to me by email and I will post them on your behalf. My email Frank[at]ReedNavigation.com.
