Yes, the Navy MK 3 was issued with a 4x40mm scope. Unfortunately my MK 3 is scopeless. A quartermaster may have hocked the original scope while ashore doing what sailors do while landlubbing ;-)
I am pleased with the less powerful 2 power scope observing from the beach. Next will be a sea trial.

Perhaps I read wrong or misunderstood, but didn't the "navy" as in U.S. Navy Mk 3 sextant use a 4 x 40mm scope? Might there have been different scopes used at different times?
