Visit beautiful Sandy Island... on your vacation from reality this year.
It's at lat, lon: 19.22 S, 159.93 E, west of New Caledonia. It's fairly obvious that it's not real --a late entry in the long history of phantom islands in the Pacific Ocean (here's a whole book about them: http://books.google.com/books?id=lcaBAAAAMAAJ). But somehow "Sandy Island" made it into a number of modern digital databases including Google Maps / Google Earth. Have a look today; it may be gone tomorrow!
Anyway, here's a cute little article about some folks from the University of Sydney who tried to visit: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-20442487
