Asunto: [NavList 7064] Virgin Rocks.
This is the first of two requests for help.
I've noticed, in Admiraly "Ocean passages for the World",
1973 , a mention
of "Virgin Rocks" in a routeing chart for approaches to East
Coast ports
facing page 73, marked by a "+" symbol.. Virgin Rocks are
shown at roughly
46º 30' N, 51ºW, about
I don't have any detailed information about the waters East of
Newfoundland,
and wonder if any Navlist member can help. All I am asking is whether
Virgin
Rocks presents a hazard to surface vessels, such that craft of say
draught might need to keep clear of it (or rough water around it), and
perhaps whether icebergs might have a tendency to ground around it in
the
early part of the season (May).
George.
